Shopify Store Structure & Blog Organization for Recipes

While Shopify does not have any built in structure for a recipe blog setup; we can use the platform's blog system to organize a simple to understand recipe system for easy access by your customers.

1. Create A "Recipes" Blog

First things first; get started by creating a new Blog in Shopify called "Recipes". You can do this by navigating to your Shopify store's admin page; clicking "Online Store" > "Blog Posts" > and then clicking "Blogs" in the top left corner of the page. Click "Add Blog" and then enter your blogs name in the new page:

Make sure you click save!

2. Add the Recipe blog to your store's navigation

Now that the recipe blog is created; make sure your customers can find it by adding it to your store's main navigation. Simply add a new navigation item to the Shopify navigation page and direct it to your new "Recipes" blog page!

3. Create a new recipe blog post, include it in the "Recipes" blog

We will be adding individual blog posts to Shopify, each one with a specific recipe added to them. Since our recipe card content will be created by Recipe Kit (step #4), the blog post we create now will be used for extra information and SEO-friendly content. We will leave the recipe details (ingredients, directions, servings, etc) to the recipe card design later on!

Navigate back to your Shopify Admin's "Blog Posts" page. Click "Add Blog Post" in the top right corner. In this blog post, you will want to write an SEO-friendly title that customer's will discover the post with, write some content about the recipe.

Food bloggers like to add a great deal of content before the recipe card itself; this is your opportunity to tell a store about the recipe, why it was created, why it is good, etc. This blog post text is incredibly useful for Google results!

Enter your blog posts title, for example: "My Favourite Mac and Cheese Recipe!", then enter your post content in the box below.

Ensure that you add the new post to the "Recipes" blog. Do this on the right hand side of the page under the "Blog" heading.

Create a base blog post which your recipe card will be added to later on!

Click save and continue to the next step!
